Before I started filming I had to shorten the song as it was a bit too long for my video. I faded the song out about a minute earlier, making the song last just under 4 minutes. I used a piece of software called Cubase to do this.

Teen Angst by M83

Channel for Broadcast:

My project would be shown on M83’s YouTube channel. If it was aired on TV, it will be displayed on MTV within the rest of the music videos that have a similar genre of alternative rock or nu gaze. MTV’s audience is very similar to the target audience for this production which will be beneficial for the band to gain supporters.

Target Audience:

M83 has a very distinct and varied style of music. They mainly focus in the ‘alternative rock’ and ‘nu gaze’ genre, but the French electronic band do vary from this. It is quite difficult to pin point a specific audience.

According to YouGov, it shows that fans of M83 also enjoy artists such as: ‘Hot Chip’, ‘Galantis’ and ‘Arcade Fire’. The audience demographic states that the audience is mainly male between the ages of 18-24. The social grade of this band is ‘ABC1’, ‘AB’ refers to the audience having a higher and intermediate managerial, administrative, professional occupations. The ‘C1’ describes ‘supervisory, clerical and junior managerial, administrative, professional occupations’. The social grade is one of the highest they could have which could indicate that the audience for M83 have higher paid jobs and have a better education. The information from this has only came from a small group of people which could mean it is a little unreliable.

Type of Music Video:

My music video is a mix between narrative and performance based, this is called a ‘mixture’ and it is the most common form of music video.
